Optimize 3.0 Inbound Marketing Blog

Over the course of my career I’ve worked with a number of content management systems (CMS).  From Joomla to Drupal to custom solutions.  Here’s the hard truth: They’re not built for true CMS marketing.   It’s not that they don’t really work, they did a bit.  But they fail at a far more basic level:  You need a developer to get them to function.  Despite every attempt to get these platforms to be user-friendly, they are not.  You’re constantly in need tech help for everything from buttons to updating the database.  For a site owner who needs access to his/her site, you can’t be held hostage by a developer.  I’ve seen this too often.

Want to create something for your site that is evergreen, interactive and utilitarian?   The basic sticky application?  Try building a calculator.  I wanted to do something for Optimize 3.0.  One particular reason I started this agency was the empirical data I found that shows how blogging and other social media activities can increase leads to websites.   So I came upon the idea of a blog value calculator using this data.  The functionality measures how much money you can earn from blogging if you take specific steps such as adding SEO optimization to your posts, frequency of posts and type of content written about.

I stumbled across Screenr the other day when I was researching one of my competitor’s back links.  I clicked through and discovered a great screen capturing software free tool.  The added benefit is that the account provides a pretty high value do-follow link.  I’ve considered a screen capture video of my blog calculator to demonstrate that interactivity and explain with voiceover how it works.   I thought I might have to invest in something like Camtasia (makers of Snag It) which is a great tool.   But I’ve been putting that off with other priorities.  However, as soon as I started playing around with Screenr I knew I was onto something pretty great.
